What is coaching (and what is it not)?
1
What is Coaching?
Coaching is for people who want to make changes in their lives. Holistic coaching addresses our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Some examples include: relationship enhancement, parenting and family, spiritual growth, lifestyle management, health and wellness, life "balance," decision making, movement through transitions, and the achievement of short-term or long-term goals.

2
What isn't Coaching?
Coaching is not therapy, counseling, mental health care, or treatment for substance abuse. The coach is not functioning as a licensed mental health professional, and coaching is NOT intended as a replacement for counseling, psychiatric interventions, treatment for mental illness, recovery from past abuse, professional medical advice, financial assistance, legal counsel, or other professional services.

3
Why Coaching?
Coaching is a guided process to assist you in your journey toward holistic wellness (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) as you explore your authentic self. Coaching can involve brainstorming, values clarification, gifts and personality exploration, SMART goal setting, establishing a personal strategic plan, agreements to change behavior, accountability, journaling, and questioning. Times of silence are normal, and the person being coached is invited to embrace stillness in reflection on the question or thought at hand.
